<p>Go down to your neighborhood ice cream shop.<br />
Baskin Robbins…yumm. You look on their board and see they have new flavors available. As you look them over, they offer you a SAMPLE in a little cup to try out.</p>
<p>It’s nowhere near enough. It’s not going to fill you up.</p>
<p>If you like the flavor, all it’s going to do is make you want more!</p>
<p>If they gave you a whole cone of it, you’d be full and wouldn’t want anymore.</p>
<p>And this is the much BIGGER error I see when coaching clients. Rarely do I consult with someone who isn’t giving enough education. Much more often they’re giving away TOO MUCH.</p>
<p>Their customers go away satisfied and full from the content they provided them. Their appetite for consumption was filled up because they solved the problem.</p>
<p><span style="color: #993366;"><strong>Here’s the rule. Your free content should not solve the problem. And if it does solve a problem, it must identify a new one they may not have known they had.</strong></span></p>
<p>Jimmy Brown has a phrase he uses. He says <strong><span style="color: #008000;">content should be useful, but incomplete</span></strong>.</p>
<p>This means your content has value and it is useful on the subject, but it never “fills them up” like the ice cream above.</p>
<p>Instead the content should lead them to the next step in the sales process – the product you’re offering. It’s just a TASTE of the good things provided to customers.</p>
<p>The connection of the content to the product should be NATURAL. For example, let’s say I was selling a service where I wrote your autoresponder messages for you. That would NATURALLY fit into this place. Since I’ve been teaching the subject, giving examples, and explaining what your site needs to do, that’s what I could sell in this space.</p>
<p>The purpose of free content is to take people by the hand and gently lead them to the offer.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Content + Related Recommendation = Money</strong></span></p>
<p>Let’s say I write an article or an email about how to build an email list. I could give really good content on this subject and tell someone exactly how to build their email list.</p>
<p>But that leads us to another issue. They need an autoresponder to manage that list. So I could sign up as an affiliate and promote that autoresponder, explaining why it’s the best choice. Or I could create a product about how to create emails that make money.</p>
<p>The freebie on list building naturally leads into that product also. Instead of telling you all about how to build a list, instead I could give you one simple way to build your list, and then sell a product with 21 more ways to build your list.</p>
<p>The key to this last one though is I can’t give too many techniques away…AND the technique I give you needs to surprise you. It needs to be something you didn’t know before.</p>
<p>You have to say, “Wow…I didn’t know that one. I wonder what other techniques he has in store for me.”</p>
<p>Notice what I just did there? CURIOSITY.</p>
<p>Curiosity is one of the chief buying motivators if you’re selling information. You can’t lose it. If you’re in the business of selling information, your free content can’t reveal your hand.</p>
<p>It would be like playing poker with a mirror behind you the whole time. And you wonder why you’re losing?</p>
<p>If you’re selling a non-information product, the job is much easier. As I mentioned above, if I owned the autoresponder service or concentrated on simply making money as an affiliate with them, I could teach almost anything related to list building or maximizing the value of your list.</p>
<p>Although all my examples would of course be about and from users of my service…and many would point to unique benefits of my service.</p>
<p>What are you selling and how can your content pre-sell for you?</p>
<p>Let’s say you sell gardening products. This means you could teach anything related to gardening, but you would regularly hook in specific products (and their benefits) into the articles you’re writing. You’d link over to the special fertilizer you use. You’d mention how useful this unique tool is.</p>
<p>Now let’s change it and say you sell an ebook on gardening, growing the best roses someone has ever seen. What are your articles about now? You can still include tips and tools you use. You can still talk about what and how you do it.</p>
<p>What you can’t do is give them the exact plan and checklist you use. They would have to piecemeal it and try to figure it out by finding and connecting all your articles together if they didn’t want to buy your ebook.</p>
<p>And they’d never get the printable checklists that are exclusive to your ebook.</p>
<p>The bottom line is almost any information can be found if someone is willing to invest months or even years to sort through all the junk online to get to it.</p>
<p>They pay for information to satisfy their curiosity, save themselves time, and have confidence in the the systems they ordered.</p>

In case you don&#8217;t know, a blog is a turbocharged website. I frequently say &#8230;</p>
<p align="center"><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>A BLOG is 10-10-10</strong></span></p>
<p>A blog is 10x cheaper than a traditional website to set up, 10x cheaper to maintain, and at least 10x more effective when it comes to being able to be found in search engines like Google, Youtube, and Yahoo.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve seen churches pay $5,000 for a traditional website by some &#8220;expert&#8221; for something I could have created in 4-8 hours. I think to myself,&#8221;Is that being a good steward with godly resources?&#8221;</p>
<p><span style="color: #993366;"><strong>One of my passions is helping you share your stories with the world.</strong></span> And a blog is a cheap and easy way to do that. What makes you UNIQUE &#8211; different than anyone else in the world &#8211; is your STORY.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m passionate about teaching people to blog and use webinars for several reasons. One reason is because there is a huge VOID. Do you know that less than 10% of businesses, ministries, and churches have a STRATEGIC web presence. And yet the web is the #1 business tool of the 21st century.</p>
<p>If you check with most chambers of commerce, you&#8217;ll find that only about 50% of businesses, ministries, and churches have a website and most of those have traditional websites, which are basically like online brochures &#8211; not really interactive.</p>
<p>In sharp contract, a BLOG is highly interactive and can be made to automatically interface with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more social media sites.</p>
<p>As you&#8217;ve heard me mention before, Ann Sieg, a highly successful internet marketer, says &#8220;Blogs are still the fastest, easiest and most reliable way to get free traffic online. A blog is the critical central HUB needed to make all your social media activity pay off. If content is king, then your blog is your castle!&#8221;</p>
<p>But perhaps the best reason to blog is that <span style="color: #008000;"><strong>BLOGGING IS TRANSFORMATIONAL</strong></span>. Even if no one reads you&#8217;re blog, you will be transformed as you share authentic messages over time.</p>

Then I was able to appreciate how rich the year really was. Our family is <strong><span style="color: #008000;">SO BLESSED</span></strong>. And we are grateful for EVERY good gift that comes from above, from the Father of lights.</p>

<p>I understand first hand why Jim Rohn (known as America&#8217;s foremost business philosopher) said the three greatest treasures to leave behind for the next generation are pictures, your journal, and your library. Your library includes your collection of books, audios, videos, etc that taught you, helped you develop a philosophy and defend your ideals, and shaped you to become who you are, hopefully influential and sophisticated, but definitely unique.</p>
<p>For more than 10 years in a row, Julia and I sent out beautiful custom Christmas cards and letters each year in the mail. By the time our last mailing went out for Christmas of 2007, we had almost 1,000 people on our list. Sending out those cards would take more than a week of our time and cost about $1,000.</p>
<p>This year, with our combined email lists, we are sending our special greeting to more than 2,000 people at no cost and the total time to review my journal, write this letter, and upload photos for the entire year took less than 2 days. <p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">If I had to pick one word to summarize 2010 it would be</span></strong> <strong><span style="color: #008000;">BREAKTHROUGH</span></strong>. In early Dec 2009, I began taking a 10-week Breakthrough Life Coach training course taught by <a href="http://lifebreakthroughcoach.com" target="_blank">Janet Daughtry</a>. That led to a whole chain reaction of breakthroughs.</p>
<p>For example, later in December 2009, our son Robbie asked me to start coaching him again on a weekly basis. Within a month or two, I began calling our sessions &#8220;Breakthrough Life Coaching&#8221; sessions and sure enough Robbie began experiencing major breakthroughs quickly. In the Spring of 2010, <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">Robbie told me this was the best year of his life and a week later he told me the greatest gift I could have ever given him was my gift of coaching. </span></strong></p>
<p>On February 1, 2010 I officially launched my free e-course called &#8220;<strong><span style="color: #008000;">30 Days To Breakthrough</span></strong>&#8221; teaching people how to be good stewards with their Time, Talent, Treasure, and Temple.  This was something I had wanted to do for about 2 years. Nine months after the launch, I had subscribers from at least 40 states and 36 countries. And the list keeps growing and growing automatically each month. <p>On Saturday February 27, <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">I officially began using my middle name (Joseph) instead of my nickname (Randy) per Holy Spirit&#8217;s prompting.</span></strong> I spent about 8 hours that first day change my email signature on blogs, email autoresponders, etc. The very next day I received an email out-of-the-blue from Dr. Bruce Cook asking to connect with me. When we first spoke on March 1, we shared stories and dreams for 3 hours. This was amazing because I had been trying to connect with Bruce for 4 months per Nancy Slocum&#8217;s recommendation.</p>
<p>Bruce is the founder and convener of KEYS, the <a href="http://kingdomeconomicsummit.com" target="_blank">Kingdom Economic Yearly Summit</a>, the Christian equivalent of the World Business Forum. Over the course of the year, Bruce opened many new doors of opportunity for me, including meeting many highly influential people.</p>
<p>On my birthday (March 18), heavenly Father released His birthday gift to the world &#8211; &#8220;<a href="http://thefathersblessing.net/watchvideo/" target="_blank">The Father&#8217;s Blessing</a>&#8221; webinar with Bruce Cook. This was by far the most popular webinar I had ever hosted up to then with 119 people registering from at least 22 states and 9 countries.</p>
<p>This webinar and my evolving relationship with Bruce eventually opened the door to host the <a href="http://visions777.com" target="_blank">VISIONS777 12-week, 24 webinars series</a>, casting God&#8217;s visions for the next decade. What Holy Spirit did during this webinar series was so huge. A series of books will eventually be written about the fruit resulting from this.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">The highlight for Julia and me this year was our trip in late August to Washington state for our nephew Andy&#8217;s wedding. </span></strong>This was a great opportunity to get together on several wonderful occasions with extended family, many of whom we had not seen for more than 10 years. Icing on the cake for this trip to Washington was the opportunity to stay for 3 nights at the home of <a href="http://stuffibelievein.com" target="_blank">Rod</a> and <a href="http://carriecstone.com" target="_blank">Carrie Stone</a> in Anacordis. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57783091@N02/sets/72157625732826808/" target="_blank">CLICK HERE</a> to see photos from our trip.</p>

<p>Julia had a transitional year in 2010. While she still is very fit and competed in several triathlons this year (qualifying for the Xterra World Triathlon Championship once again), she spent much more time teaching kickboxing classes at two local gyms.</p>
<p>Julia&#8217;s <a href="http://worldbeanroasthers.com" target="_blank">World Bean Roasthers</a> coffee business continued to grow steadily and is now profitable. During the Christmas holiday season, she experience record orders. And we thank each person who has ordered coffee from her.</p>
<p>Caren is now 25 years old. After graduating from the College of William and Mary in May 2007 with a degree in accounting, she moved to northern Virginia near Julia&#8217;s mom. For the past year and a half Caren worked for <a href="www.carlyle.com" target="_blank">The Carlyle Group</a>. For the past two years, Caren has been dating Seth Roth.</p>
<p>Robbie is 23 years old, having graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Systems Engineering in May 2009. He lives in Arlington near Caren and has been working for <a href="http://www.accenture.com" target="_blank">Accenture</a> in Washington DC ever since. For the past half year, Robbie has been dating Emily Schuller, the daughter of a retired Navy captain.</p>
<p>We are thankful that both Caren and Robbie prioritize family activities and get togethers.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">Maui, our chocolate lab puppy that Caren gave us as a surprise present for Christmas 2009, celebrated her one year birthday</span></strong> on November 15. She has been an absolute delight for Julia and me and our family. And she makes me get out for long walks several times each day.</p>

<li><strong><span style="color: #993366;">Getting connected to Will Green</span></strong>. Will called me out-of-the-blue on July 13, exactly fourteen days before the official launch of the Visions777 webinar series, and shared <strong><span style="color: #008000;">God&#8217;s vision</span></strong> given to him during a 50 day fast in early 2010 to <strong><span style="color: #008000;">raise up 100 million Word Warriors in America in the next decade</span></strong>. Since then we have become dear friends. A few weeks later, Will gifted me a <a href="http://mybible777.com" target="_blank">Word Warriors Audio Bible</a>, which has been a tremendous blessing.</li>

<p>Holy Spirit revealed to me that my key word for 2011 is <strong><span style="color: #008000;">COMMITMENT</span></strong>, my key scripture is <span style="color: #0000ff;">James 5:12 &#8211; &#8220;<strong>Let your &#8216;yes&#8217; be &#8216;yes&#8217; and your &#8216;no&#8217; be &#8216;no&#8217;!</strong>&#8220;</span>, and my key question is &#8220;<strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">What will be your legacy?</span></strong>&#8221;</p>

<ul>
<li>Faith, hope, love &#8211; Father, Son, Holy Spirit &#8211; Thanksgiving, praise, worship</li>
<li>Outer court, inner court, Holy of holies &#8211; knowledge, wisdom, understanding</li>
<li>30 fold, 60 fold, 100-fold increase &#8211; 3 key attributes of God: all-knowing, all powerful, all-present</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>In every business there are three types of customers</strong> &#8211; those that pay you for your products/services, those you pay to work directly for you (employees), and those you pay for outsourced services or products (vendors and suppliers).</p>
<p><strong>There are three primary ways to grow any busines</strong>s &#8211; bring in new customers/increase your customer base, increase the frequency of purchase by your existing customers,  and increase the size of each purchase.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">One of the most sought after speakers right now is Steve Jobs.  Audiences love his presentation style.  What is his secret &#8212; THREE things &#8211; 1) he creates a story to share; 2) he delivers an experience; and 3) he inspires the audience to act.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #008000;">Innovation falls into three primary categories &#8211; incremental innovation, breakthroughs, and game-changing innovation. </span></strong> </p>
<p>Incremental Innovation is focused on making small but significant improvements to existing products or services.  Think changing plain detergent to detergent with bleach, detergent with pine scent.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #993366;">Breakthrough innovations introduce an existing technology into a new market, or a new technology into an existing market, or changes the way the offering is delivered.</span></strong> Think about air bladders &#8212; used for many things but never running shoes.  Enter Nike &#8211; revolutionize the running shoe industry!</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">Game-changers DISRUPT an existing market or create a whole new market.</span></strong> A good example from years ago was the switch from cloth diapers to disposable diapers.  More recently think how e-mail, online faxing, and all-in-one printers/copiers/fax machines have pretty much wiped out the market for stand alone fax machines.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #008000;">How effectively are you using the power of three in your life and your business?</span></strong></p>
<p><strong>When was the last time your business had a day focused on innovation</strong>?</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #000080;">Many businesses have never really had a deliberate and strategic innovation planning.</span></strong> Maybe it is time you do that for your business!  Look for the power of three as you innovate!</p>

<p>Simply put, <strong><span style="color: #993366;">Will Smith is the industry&#8217;s most &#8220;bankable&#8221; man.</span></strong> How does he do it?  A recent USA Today article reveals his secret:  &#8220;I study patterns,&#8221; he says. &#8220;Nine out of the top 10 biggest movies of all times have special effects; eight out of 10 have creatures in them; seven out of 10 have a love story. So if you want a hit, you might want to throw those in the mix.   I just study patterns and try to stand where lightning strikes.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Re-Positioning</strong></p>
<p>Dewitt Jones &#8211; a freelance photographer for National Geographic has a favorite credo &#8220;<strong><span style="color: #008000;">Position yourself in the place of highest potential</span></strong>.&#8221;  <strong><span style="color: #993366;">Do you see a striking similarity with Will Smith&#8217;s strategy of studying where lightning strikes and simply move to that location in advance?</span></strong></p>
<p>This sums up the essence of re-positioning.  <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">If your business and/or life are not running as you want, not providing the results you desire, not meeting your expectations, and/or falling short of your hopes and dreams &#8211; then you need to re-position yourself in some way.</span></strong> Simply doing the same things over and over, expecting a different result is madness &#8211; I think Albert Einstein was the one that said as much.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #993366;"><span style="color: #008000;">A critical skill in business is the ability to pause, find a vantage point that allows you to see 360 degrees &#8211; behind, ahead, and all around your current location/place</span>.</span></strong> By temporarily stopping from working in your business, and taking some time to work on your business, important revelations can come forth.  In fact, three keys to creating a new, better result include rest, reflection and revelation.  This new, better result fits hand in glove with the concept of re-positioning.</p>
<p><strong>Re-Position Your Expectations</strong></p>
<p>The first of the applications of re-positioning is relative to your expectations.  During your time of rest/reflection/revelation &#8211; ask yourself &#8211; what expectations do you have for your business and your life?  Are they aggressive, growth oriented, positive, bold, huge, and even scary BIG?</p>
<p>What you expect &#8211; you tend to get.  So if your results are not what you want, examine your expectations.  Over time, it is easy to let the world wear you down and cause you to lower your expectations, let them turn sour and/or south (neither one is good!).</p>
<p>Change your expectations as a key first strategy to re-position your business and your life!  Study the patterns in your industry &#8211; look for the lightning.  Find the location of highest potential &#8211; then get about moving that way.</p>
<p><strong>Become Word Conscious &#8211; Re-Position Your Words</strong></p>
<p>The power to change your business and your life rests in your words. Simple statement &#8211; but big truth!  A lot is being said about thinking. However, it&#8217;s your spoken words that get the desired results.  Words are physical &#8220;containers&#8221; of your thoughts.</p>
<p>Do yourself a favor and accept this challenge: for one week be very attentive and conscious to the words flowing from your mouth.  Especially notice the automatic responses you tend to use without even thinking.  These are strong clues to what&#8217;s in your heart and mind!   This is where journaling can be a handy tool.</p>
<p>Write down the expressions and words you use throughout the day &#8211; what do you say in high stress situations, what about in casual conversations, what about when thinking about your business?  By writing it down and then reviewing it weekly you will be able to see a pattern emerging.  Once you identify certain expressions, you can then acknowledge what your tendencies are and, therefore, can start to change your habits.</p>
<p>Consider the various business situations you encounter in your daily life.  Determine those that are causing you stress or attracting unwanted results.  Ask yourself &#8211; what words are you using to express that situation.   Replace words that dis-empower with words that empower.  &#8220;Should, must, and have to&#8221; become &#8220;could, want, and choose to.&#8221;</p>
<p>Pay attention to the intensity of the words you use. Are they appropriate to the situation?   Notice the metaphors you use, they will reveal how you are choosing to approach your business.</p>
<p><strong>Re-Position Your Actions</strong></p>
<p>The power to change your business and your life rests in your the actions &#8211; the ones you take, and the ones you don&#8217;t.  If you take SMARTER ACTIONS, you generate more POWERFUL RESULTS.</p>
<p>My all time favorite refrigerator magnet says, &#8220;<strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">If Nothing Changes, then Nothing Changes</span></strong>&#8220;.  What a great summation about the importance and power of re-positioning your expectations, your words, and your actions.   To get a different result in your business and your life requires change &#8211; commit to some business and personal re-positioning!</p>

<p>A team is a group of people doing something together to produce a specific result or outcome.  None of us, no matter how good we are can be great at everything.  So what are 6 key advantages of teams?</p>
<p><strong>Advantage 1: Increases productivity</strong><br />
Organizations are continuously looking for efficiency or productivity gains as a source of competitive advantage.  Teams, especially those that are close to the point of delivery can identify what needs to change to boost productivity better than any group of senior managers could ever hope to.  Let the team focus on productivity and the organisation gains.</p>
<p><strong>Advantage 2: Improves communication skills</strong><br />
For teams to succeed they need to be able to get their messages across, listen effectively to other points of view and build on ideas.  As a result of being on the team, people are getting the opportunity to develop and improve their communication skills.</p>
<p><strong>Advantage 3: Diversity of skills</strong><br />
Some people in organisations thrive in dealing with the big picture stuff.  Others get their kick from getting immersed in the detail.  There will be others who thrive on idea generation and others who love to take something from concept to finished article. <p>The Great Commission is a TEACHING as well as PREACHING commission!</p>
<p><span style="color: #0000ff;">Mt 28:19-20 &#8220;Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.&#8221; (NAS) Teach them all I commanded you. </span></p>
<p><strong>Did you know that Jesus gave us 50 commandments to take to the nations? </strong></p>
<p>The 50 commandments of Christ will change a nation. Notice how Jesus commands us to both preach repentance and TEACH THEM TO &#8220;OBSERVE ALL THINGS THAT I COMMANDED YOU&#8221;. We tend to focus on getting people saved, or born again. That is certainly the start. This however is called the &#8220;Gospel of Salvation.&#8221;</p>
<p>The &#8220;Gospel of the Kingdom&#8221; on the other hand is the Gospel we are called to preach. It includes the call to repentance but goes much further. It<span style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande', Verdana, Arial, 'Bitstream Vera Sans', sans-serif; line-height: normal; font-size: 12px; white-space: pre;"> 7 Mountains of Culture<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; white-space: normal; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;"> reaches into the world system and threatens Satan’s control over the nations. It is a teaching commission along side a preaching commission. It has been neglected too long.</span></span></p>
<p>To disciple a nation you need a philosophy that governs all aspects of behavior yet is flexible enough to apply to all sectors of society. What are the sectors of society the gospel must penetrate in order to disciple nations?</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">There are in fact seven mountains or world kingdoms that make up the matrix in which the culture of every nation exists.</span></strong> These mountains are also called &#8220;mind molders&#8221;, because the person who controls the tops of these mountains has leverage over the minds and lives of those beneath in every other mountain. The church has a message for each of these mountains. We need to both demonstrate the power of God and recover our confidence in the practical, life changing dynamic that is unleashed when society is built on non optional universal life principles- the commandments of Christ! It is the absence of this moral foundation that explains why it is easier to liberate a country from dictatorship than it is to bring it into order and prosperity once the dictator is out of power.</p>
